I am looking to get a pet. I am leading towards a parrot. Am I making a mistake? I think a cat or a dog needs more work. Am I right?

  1. A cat looks and cleans after itself.a parrot can catch diseases, get bored and live quite long.i would vouch for a cat.

  2. I have all 3.  Cat takes the least work actually.  They use a litter box and are pretty independent.  Also, you can pet and cuddle with them :)

I also really don't like the idea of birds being in cages; my family has a parrot and i feel so bad for it because it seems to be unhappy trapped in a cage, but we can't let it go because it wont survive in the wild. :(

  3. i would get a parrot i have 1 i taught it how to talk i say hey ***** he says hey ***** i'm all like o no u didn't imma get R.KELLY ON U!!!!!! lol

  4. No.  Parrots are more work than cats, and probably more work than most dogs as well.  A cat is the lowest maintenance of those choices if that is what you are looking for.  Parrots are very social animals.  They like to be with you all the time and they need to have interaction and play.  They do not do well if they are left alone for long periods of time, or don't get a lot of interaction with you.  They can develop stress-related issues like self-mutilation if you don't spend enough time with them.  They will bond very stongly to their owner.   They also live a long time.  It is not unusual for them to outlive an owner.  They are truly a lifetime commitment.  Think very very carefully before you get a parrot.  Read here: http://www.mpebs.com/2.html for information on what keeping a parrot really means.

  5. no you are not..a parrot takes a lot of cleaning up after..A cat sheds a lot and you have to clean up kitty liter unless they go outside..A inside dog has to be fed and let out and bathed..But all in all Dogs are so fun and loveable. Play a lot more and are very loyal..If you feed it and bathe it yourself, He recognizes you as his master and will sit and wait for you to come home..If you get a dog there are dogs that are high maintance and low..But to answer your question i would say get the one you think you would enjoy the most.
