What is a better pet for me?

Question

i want a small pet. im deciding between a chinchilla or a hamster. i had a hamster when i was younger but it was kinda evil, i named it Godzilla i think the breed was bad, so if i get a hamster it would be a bear hamster.which ever pet i get i need it to be able to occupy itself bc i have divorced parents and may be at the house where its not. id perfer a chin but through research im thinking it needs alot of attention and i want to give it attention but dont know if i have the time. please help. thanks!

go for the hamster they are easy to take care of. I had a chin they are alot of work and they require special food, dust, no drafts.etc... if you don't know what you are doing with a chin they will die. a hamster doesn't require much. also chin's require alot of attention. so if you are unsure if you have the time go for the hamster good luck

chinchilla's are deff. alot to take care of, and no matter what breed, all hamsters jus want to be left alone. have you ever thought of mayb getting rat? I've had many, and hav been studdying them for about 5 years. they're mazing pets, like little dogs. easy o take care of, just if you want. if you don't, I'd say a hamster. since they're easy to take care of. if you don't mind it being alittle mean sometimes.

I agree with the rat, they actually made very good pets. If at first you cringe at the idea (like me) meet a couple friendly rats. They are much smarter than hamsters and I took my rattie everywhere with me. They can chill on your shoulder and such unlike a hamster or chinchilla!

A hamster is preferable.  with a chinchilla you need a lot of care and one thing ... $$$$$$$$$$

a hamster is convenient because it is inexpensive money wise and they are very cute and loving.

Chinchillas. def.

my friend has one and they are ADORABLE!

and kinda easy to take care of.

My other friend has a bear hamster and he loves it. it lives for a long time too. about 6 years i think.

i heard that chinchillas were kind of messy and stinky, but so are hamsters at times. If you want an easy to take care of animal, then i suggest go for the hamster. However, if you want to be unique, and you don't mind the time it takes to care for a chinchilla, then go for it. Do whatever you want. :)

Ever consider a rat? They are awesome! Otherwise, chinchillas are cool too....and super soft!

Get a rat! You'll never regret it.

They never bite if you handle them correctly, unlike hamsters.  They are super intelligent and friendly toward people, very interested in everything you are doing.  Chinchillas are fun but they just don't have the same intelligence as rats (they are more like rabbits really), and cost a lot more to keep.  They can be very messy too, whereas rats are super clean just like people.

Chinchillas also require cooler temperatures and can die easily of overheating, rats and hamsters are much hardier.
