What is a bicycle for a 6'6" man that will not break the bank?

He weighs about 270 lbs. and is just a beginning cyclist so nothing fancy is needed.

  1. His weight has nothing to do with it.  There are a lot of bikes out there.  The type of riding determines the bike.  I am going to assume he is about my age and is more of a recreational rider.  I would recommend a Trek SoHo it comes in the size that you are looking for and is relatively inexpensive.  It has 700c tires, disc, breaks, and internal cabling for around high 6.  Trek also has some other bikes that come in larger sizes like the 7.2 FX and the bikes in that series.  I think having a carbon fork is a necessity.  Have him fitted for the bike and he will be a lot more comfortable and will less likely injury himself.

  3. Well it all depends, whether your looking to go offroad or sticking to the beaten track, if your looking to do some off road i would suggets a specalized rockhopper.
