What are the "ingredients" necessary for any brave act, and which will always make an act brave when they occur together? What is the difference between brave acts and daredevil or dangerous and foolhardy acts? In other words, what are the necessary and sufficient conditions for an act to be a brave one?

  1. A brave act is one that puts yourself on the line for another . The fireman rushing into a burning building to save a child thats is a brave act . Daredevils do it for the thrill or the impact to a crowd.A brave act could even be a mother putting her child up for adoption because she is not capable of caring for one. The person who jumps over cars on a motorcycle is doing a foolhardy thing

  2. A brave act has to meet these criteria:

    1. A situation in which the average person would feel fear.

    2. Being able to not only function, but to function in an exemplary manner.

    3. The act has to have some value - either intrinsic or extrinsic.

If the situation doesn't meet these criteria, then it is just a "notable" act.

These situations can be anything from action in combat, to standing up to a bully, or doing the right thing when it isn't expected (or wanted).

  3. I guess a brave act is something you do without caring too much about what U can get out of it and if you do it because you care for that person, stranger or not.

  4. Well, for an act to be brave, it basically has to be dangerous, like if you risk your life to save someone else's. That is a brave act. A foolish act could be like, to do dangerous stunts like jumping over cars with motorcycles. Thats foolheardy act. At the same time, there are different types of brave acts, it doenst always involve saving someone. Sticking up for someone who is being picked on could be looked at as a brave act... there are many types of brave acts..So, thats basically it, hope I helped some. :)

  5. An act endangering your own butt to save your fellow man's.

  6. It's easy to be brave for other people. We all do it all the time for the emotional payback. To be true to yourself when no one is looking is harder, otherwise we'd be able to stay on our diets longer ;)

True bravery is is sticking to convictions and pushing through fear to honor them even when you don't have to.
