Budgie (short for budgerigar) is a type of parakeet. It is found in Australia but is mainly hand bred and kept as pets. They are small, maybe 6 in. from head to tail. Budgies are the most colorful of all birds. Although they can be trained to talk (both male and female), they don't have the right vocals/voice box to talk clearly as other parrots.
