  1. CEU is a Continuing Education Unit. Most educators (unless they have been grandfathered in) need to have so many "units" in order to stay employed. Depending on how long you have been employed, what field your degree is in, and what your status is (tenure/non-tenure) You are required to take so many credits of continuing education per year or within a certain time frame. These can be achieved through a university or through other qualified programs. Everything is worth different "units" so you may have to take more or less classes than others to achieve the same total units.

  2. It stands for Continuing Education, meaning you have to do your continuing education to keep your license/certification.

I guess you had to take an exam in order to obtain your license or certificate for early child education, so you have to continue to learn the newest things in your field.

Lots of professions require this. Can you imagine if your doctor went to medical school and called that the end of his education? They have to take continuing education classes in order to give their patients the best care possible and they have to prove that they have taken the classes.

Whoever issued your license probably offers the continuing education courses you are required to take. I would call them and ask about classes asap.
