  1. SEARCH IT DOODE. =l

  2. The first canals were built in about 4000 BC to improve navigation on the sluggish rivers of Mesopotamia.  The longest canal was built in China.  Called the Grand Canal, it started as in the 6th century BC as a series of short sections linking stretches of navigable rivers.  By AD 1327 it had grown into a waterway 1781 km (1107 miles) long, stretching from the Chinese capital, Beijing (Peking), to Hangzhou (Hangchow).  The Grand Canal is still in use, but has been overtaken in length by Russia's Volga-Baltic Canal, opened in 1965.  This is 2977 km (1850 miles) of artificial waterway and links the Black Sea to the Baltic via Leningrad.

  3. a canal can also be a transfer area between points such as the outer and inner ear.  i.e. the ear canal. it is also as stated a man made river between to points, such the erie canal in up state n.y., or suez canal in the mid east.

  4. Yeah, it's a man-made trench to connect two separate bodies of water, usually so ships and stuff can get to where they're going faster. (like the panama canal lets ships go through panama instead of having to sail all the way around south america)
