  1. The game Life???

  2. Uno is fun for all ages, because people have to sort of pay attention, and it's also somewhat "interactive".

With standard playing cards, Rummy 500 is doable for a 7 year old.  They have to make runs of suited 3's (7 hearts, 8 hearts, 9 hearts for example), or triplets (three kings for example) and place them down (face up) for points.  First one out of cards wins the hand. First one to 500 points wins the game.  The point scroing can be found here :

I'm sure other sites exist with alternate scoring.

If you are looking for team play, Euchre is a decent one, with a smaller deck (9's through A's). But mastering it is harder.

I remember reading a novel written about times in Paris circa 1920 and they "sat down and to play a few hands of euchre".  LOL.

Well, have FUN! and let us know how it turns out or what you decide!!!

  3. Whist was one of the first games I learned and I recommend it all the time as a great early game, a great family game, and a great introduction to some more advanced games, such as bridge.

Four people play using a standard pack of 52 cards (so, remember to remove the Jokers) and in fixed partnerships, with partners sitting opposite one another.

    The cards in each suit rank Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.

Each player will get a turn at dealing, so it doesn't matter who goes first. Dealer shuffles the cards and places them face down for dealer's right to cut the pack and reveal a card - the suit of this card will be trumps for that round.

Dealer shuffles again and deals each player, one card at a time, 13 cards. Play is in a clockwise direction, starting with dealer's left. That player leads to the trick by playing one card face up on the table, each of the other players must in turn play a card of the same suit - if they do not have any cards of this suit and it is not trumps, then they may play a trump to the trick, otherwise they can play any card, though it will not win. The trick is won by the player who put down the highest card of the suit led or the highest trump. The player who wins a trick will then lead to the next trick and play continues until all the cards are played, completing that round.

There are different methods of scoring whist but this is the easiest. The team that wins 7 or more of the trick wins that round and 1 point for each trick over 6. A game is any number of rounds divisible by 4.
