  1. CD-ROM stands for Compact Disk Read Only Memory, it means that it only reads information recorded on discs, for example, music CD's, or data CD's.

If you want to store computer information in a CD or better yet, a DVD, you should replace it with a CD Writer or a DVD Writer.

I'd recommend a DVD-Writer, since it burns DVD's which have about 7 times more space than a CD and also records CD's.

    Hope it helps...

  2. CD-ROM is a device used to load CDs.

  3. If its just a CD-rom its use is for getting programs and such onto the PC

To use for storage it needs to be a CD-RW or a DVD-rw
