What is a cell processor.?

In the ps3 what is a cell processor?

It is the PS3's equivalent of the AMD Athlon or Intel Core processor CPU's, it is just a CPU that was developed between Sony and IBM.

It is based around the Power PC architecture that Apple Mac's used to use (again made by IBM) but further enhanced and multiple core.

It's use is starting to spread to high end clustering computers and even into things such as Plasma TV's.
