What is a cheap effective way to make a camcorder waterproof?

I have a camcorder and I want to bring it in and around water, but don't want to mess it up...any suggestions?

Its probably not going to get much cheaper than that without seriously risking damaging your camera.

you could put it in a plastic bag.

If you don't mind the possibility of your camcorder being ruined by water, a plastic bag would be fine.

Companies like Ewa-Marine use special plastics and seals that work better and last longer for such protection... and they have a guarantee - which a plastic bag does not have...
