Linksys is a router (or hub), not a modem. I don't quite understand the question.

As long as you have a high speed internet (DSL or cable internet), your IP will provide you with a modem. Run the ethernet from the modem to either your Xbox or to a router. If you run it directly to your Xbox, then you must contact your internet provider and have them put the Xbox on your account (otherwise it will appear as if a third party is trying to steal your internet and your IP will not allow the Xbox to connect to the internet). If you have a router (which I recommend) you can avoid the extra fee and connect your computer and Xbox to the internet simultaneously.
