What is a cheap way to travel from New York to Huntingdon, PA?

I'm trying to visit my boyfriend this weekend (preferably, though I might have to wait until next weekend or later) at college, however I can't find any cheap fares to get there. I go to college in New York, and he goes to college in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. So far I've found tons of cheap fares from New York to Philly (ie Chinatown bus, Megabus, etc), but nothing cheap from Philly to Huntingdon, or from New York to Huntingdon. If anyone knows a bus or a train I could take so that the trip is under $50, it'd be highly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Short skirt and your thumb.

  2. I suspect he's at Juniata College. (I used to go there, 30 years ago, when hitchhiking was safe.) The travel options are limited as it's a small school in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It's actually easier for him to go to NYC, since he can get a ride to Harrisburg or Philadelphia from other students going home for the weekend.

There's a cheap GOTOBUS from NYC to State College, PA, which is 30 miles over the mountain from Huntingdon. $70 round trip. Tell him if you can get to SC, he has to get you to Huntingdon. (When I went to JC, half the students went into PSU every weekend)

Also, Amtrak goes through Huntingdon as a whistle stop, but only once per day. Around $53 each way. You MUST have a reservation or the train won't stop in Huntingdon.

Warning -- the Sunday schedule is different from M-Sat.

    Good luck.

  3. With the gas prices going up, you're not going to find a cheaper way of transportation than via bus. If he lives close to a train station, you can try NJTransit. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with where in PA he's located. Sorry!
