  1. Choke tubes may be an external feature or a internal feature on a shotgun.  its design is to restrict choke in order to control shot pattern at longer ranges.  My benelli has cryogenically frozen choke tubes that have varying constriction from F- full choke, to C- for Cylinder.

  2. a choke can spread the width of the pellets coming from the barrel of the shotgun and it can decrese the width of the pellets which is usually for a big target, while the one that spreads the width is for smaller targets. Im sorry for using the term width and I should have used the term blast radius.

  3. choke tubes make the shots spread different fully choke is a very close/tight pattern     modafided choke is a medium pattern spread   improved is a big wide pattern

improved is for close shots like rabbits

    modified is for piegions

fully is for farther shots and for ducks

  4. The choke tube, on most models, screws into the end of the barrel and regulates the pattern at which the pellets will fly.

For example a Full choke will leave a tight pattern and modified will leave a little bit larger one.

There are many different types of chokes that you can get to suit your needs.

  5. the choke tube controls the spread of the BB's turn it one way the spread is larger the other its tighter
