  1. its job is same as that of a fuse, but u dont have the trouble of replacing any component (in case of fuse, the fuse wire) to put it in place.

  2. Circuit breaker is an electrical (electromagnetic) device which disconnects (by trip) an electrical circuit (remember only disconnect, not connect) automatically when the current in the circuit exceeds the maximum value limit above a particular period.

This is also known as relay. (Fuse is a just a copper wire. No way related to circuit breaker.)

There are number of types in circuit breakers. The ever seen one is MCB (Miniature circuit breaker) in our homes.

Simply saying... Circuit breakers are used for overload protection of electric equipments.

  3. It's to prevent electrical overloads which can burn wires and start fires.

Circuit breakers, which can be in the form of switches or fuses, are designed to fail and break the circuit when the current load exceeds the rating of the fuse.

  4. Circuit breakers are the protection and safety devices for electricity circuits.Circuit breaker is a mechanical device.Ä°t has't got anything to do with relays or fuses. The fuses are called as MCB ( Miniature Circuit Breaker ).The device which is called as Circuit Breakers are MCCB ( Molded Case Circuit Breakers ). They have a thermal adjustment on them and according to the circuit requirement you can adjust it but the magnetic capacity you can not adjust it, Because when you are ordering or buying it you will know what you are buying.Because of overload and short circuit it trips, but when you are doing any repairment on the circuit you can turn it of and after finishing the work you can turn it on manually.

  5. "What is a circuit breaker?"

A circuit breaker is a switch.

There are special types of circuit breaker which may be used instead of fuses.  If a current higher than the breaker's design value flows for more than a few moments, the breaker switches off the supply.

It may be reset (switched back on) - which is much more convenient than replacing a fuse.

  6. Circuit breakers prevent damage and fires by turning off an electrical circuit if too much current is being drawn.(overload)

  7. the purpose of a circuit breaker is just that:to break the circuit.  they are used to connect and disconnect power to things like lights, cameras, and anything else that runs on electricity.  what it does is when the power is turned off, the circuit breaker seperates the circuit, shutting down the machine.  simple as that, but still a complete necessity.
