  1. I have had to have a clear liquid diet when I have gone for a colonoscopy. It is much as its description says: you can only consume clear liquids, such as cordials, tea (no milk), lemonade, bonox and so on.

    The purpose in my situation was to clear the bowel so that there is nothing to block vision when the doctor comes through with the camera. The diet only starts the process. After 16 hours or so, I had to drink a preparation called Colonlytely, which induces bowel movements to finally clear out any remaining solids in the system. That's the most unpleasant part.

  2. I had to have a clear liquid diet when i had pancreatitis really bad. . . That was after the hospital starved me, with absoloutley no food or drink for 3days! man that sucked, but i know it was so my pancreas didnt get more irritated . ..  it was so it would heal. . . clear liq diets are used for a lot of different tests too like colonoscopies, so they can see through any matter that might be food or liquid :P
