Question:

What is a comparable transistor to the bc 184b?

I am building the metal detector at http://www.easytreasure.co.uk/bfo.htm and buying the parts at digikey but the transistor suggested isn't available in quantities I'd like to purchase. Could you suggest a comparable part?

I have plenty of experience in constructing circuits for physics labs but not enough knowledge to easily find the part on my own.

Thanks!

  1. The NTE cross reference is the NTE123A, which is a pretty general purpose NPN transistor.

The specs for the NTE123A read just like a 2N2222A.  You can get those anywhere.

After studying the circuit... a 2N2222A will do, just fine.
