I just checked my network list and there are 3 networks listed with the name:

"Unsecured computer to computer network" What exactly is this and does this pose a threat to my computer? I'm asking because I'm not sure if my computer allows access for other users to access my computer from this type of networking. Of course, I'm not really sure if I know what I'm talking lol. Thanks.

  1. Hi,

    Unsecured computer to computer network

    >> This simply means that your network is not encrypted.

Does this pose a threat to my computer?

    >> YES! You are in danger of being hacked, information theft (those stored in your hard disk and transmitted wireless) and viruses. What is worst is that you might be at risk to lawsuits if someone uses your network for music pirating via p2p programs like Limewire.

And to counter this, install anti virus software (Windows Defender, McAfee), turn windows firewall on and use a robust password on your wireless access point.
