What is a considered a nice camcorder?

my husband bday is coming up and i was considering buying a camcorder. I want the most up to date one with great quality! any suggestions?

If your budget is not limited, I'd suggest getting a Canon or Sony at around $2,000 for excellent quality.

If your budget is limited, I'd highly recommend the Canon ZR850 MiniDV Camcorder.

What is your budget?

I would consider a "nice" camcorder to be one with lots of easy to get to manual controls (and auto everything if needed). Also, a mic-in jack and manual audio control... recording to miniDV tape (which provides best available video quality compared to other storage formats like hard drive or flash memory based camcorders).
