What is a consignment sale?

At adesa auto auction they have consigment sales..what does that mean?

Basically a Private seller drops his car off and tells them the minimum he will accept for the car.  The associate then tries to sell the car for him as for much $$$ as possible, but it must meet the Sellers minimum.  

The Seller gets rid of his car w/out any of the work, but he gives a percentage of the proceeds to the dealer.
