  1. The social security administration frequently will not believe your own doctor that you are disabled, so they have you examined by their doctor.

    Be prepared for their doctor to say you are able to work and not entitled to benefits. If you do not have a lawyer yet you MUST get one by then, to appeal their decision and get you the benefits to which you are entitled.

    Note that you do not pay a Social Security attorney any money up front - when you win your case, there will be an order for payment of attorneys fees at that time.


  2. It is an examine where a Dr. will do a consult, meaning, he will spend time with you asking you questions, and make a diagnosis, and then a prognosis, regarding level of degree of disability.  Consults are SS way of ensuring that what your saying is going on can be documented by a physican.
