Cookie is one of the means by which a computer stores private information without revealing others. For example: In a mail account if we are checking the box ( Remember me in this computer) , your user name and password will get stored as cookie. So when you enter the site again and start to enter the user name it will automatically show the available user names starting with that letter and if you select the corresponding user name it will get the password also so that you don't have to enter the password again and again. That will be available only from where you checked the box(Remember me in this computer). It is also used for client side validation. I dont know whether u can understand what a client side validation is!!
