  1. Do you mean an argument against Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans?

If yes, the counter argument would be that his victory was due to huge mistakes by the British.

The Americans may not have won had the British not underestimated them.  The British lost mainly because they marched infantry against prepared fortifications that were well manned plus reinforced with artillery.  The British used standard tactics for the day, but success depended on either out-numbering the enemy, surprising the enemy, or greatly out-performing the enemy. The British had none of those advantages and were therefore slaughtered.

So the counter argument would be that the Americans won because of British mistakes and not because of Jackson's brilliance.

  2. Andrew Jackson died a long time ago, so if you really are doing an essay for him, you must have access to a Time Machine.  Are you offereing rides in it?  What do you charge for a ticket?

The guy in my book is a hero.  When you look at the history of the war of 1812, if things had gone differently, then the USA would not exist today, and tghe people of Britain would also be much poorer condition.

As for today, there is not a heck of a lot of support in the rest of the nation for saving New Orleans.  People think it is pretty dumb to have a city below seal level, but if the global warming predictions are valid, in 50 years, we will have over 100 other cities below sea level, so figuring out a solution to the problem is more critical than most people realize.
