What is a country code??

It's the number you dial before you dial the actual telephone number if you are calling to another country. For example, for USA, the code is 1 (makes you wonder who came up with this). So if you are outside the USA trying to call in, you would need to dial 1 first and then the actual number (area code and all, of course) to make the call go through.
