  1. In racing terms, a country mile is an almost insurmountable distance.  in other words, it's unlikely that the driver leading "by a country mile" would lose the race, unless he has some serious problems.


  2. All the answers you receive will probably be correct. A country mile can be the distance from FL to CA. It is just a distance that takes a long time to get to.
