  1. Its another name for a hurricane.  A hurricane, typhoon, and cyclone are the same storms just different names.

    -In the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Oceans are called hurricanes.

    -In the  Western Pacific they are called  typhoons

    -In the Indian Ocean they are called  cyclones

  3. A cyclone is an intense vortex or a whirl in the atmosphere with very strong winds circulating around it in an anti-clockwise direction in the Northern hemisphere and clockwise direction in the Southern hemisphere.

    In short,cyclones are intense low pressure areas-- from the centre of which pressure increases outwards.The tropical revolving storms forming over the Indian ocean only are called cyclones.
