  1. J Champagne

    $25-30

From the J Wine Company Healdsburg, CA. This champagne (aka California Sparkling Wine) is world class. Nice hint of fruit ans specifically green apple.

It is a green bottle with a yellow J.

The woman that owns it Judy, her family owns Jordan the makers of great Cabernet.

  2. Technically, only sparkling wines made in the Champagne region of France are true "champagnes," but I'm assuming that you want something that is a good equivalent.

Korbel makes a very decent domestic "champagne," and a Spanish maker, Friexenet is renowned for the outstanding value and quality of their sparkling wines.  Those can be had for $12 to $20 a bottle, depending on where you buy it.

Their Cordon *****... hmmm.... let's try that word again, it's Cordon, and the second part is spelled N-E-G-R-O -  is easily identified by the black bottle it comes in, hence the Spanish word for black being censored by Yahoo Answers.

Note: For all sparkling wines, "Brut" is very dry, lacking in residual sugars.  "Extra-dry" is a bit sweeter, but not sugary, and that's the flavor I prefer.  If you prefer dry, go for brut.

  3. you should go to a wine store (preferably one that lets you sample) and ask the people that work there what they recommend.  give them a price range you're looking for and they can help you pinpoint a great selection!

  4. My Husband and I did a champaign tasting last New Years Eve and we sampled the difference between Sparkling wine and Champaign, I was skeptical but shocked to find that even the most inexpensive champaign was far better then the most expensive sparkling wine.

A great inexpensive Champaign is Louis Roederer Brut Premier ($39.99 USD), you can read some reviews on it from wine spectator and Connoisseur's Guide from this site here: http://www.wineaccess.com/store/garyswin...

  5. Moet

    Chandon

if you never had it then always have some cold strawberies handy which is a must for Champaign any ways
