Hi,

Can somebody please tell me what it is? If possible for breaststroke as well as freestyle? And does it vary much between guys and girls?

I realise that's more than one question, but answers would seriously be appreciated!

THANKS!

  1. Note that all times are for high school and should get you on the varsity team.

    Boys 50 meter freestyle: 30

    Boys 50 meter breaststroke:  36.5

    Girls 50 meter freestyle: 33

    Girls 50 meter breaststroke: 40

Those are approximations, #1: I'm more familiar with boys' time and #2: I'm used to yard measurements. Also note that those are shourtcourse pools (25 meter pools), add about half a second to each for longcourse (50 meter pool)

  2. As a swim coach, I can tell you that there are variables based on age, size, body composition, and how many years an athlete has been training. I have no idea what your variables are, so let's just say you're a 14 year old female.

50m Free- No matter what level of swimming you are (other than VERY beginner), you should be able to hold an interval on :60 (one minute) for as many reps as necessary. For example, a set that was 10 x 50m Free on :60. Top speed (in a racing situation) is dependent on level. For a provincial or state level B swimmer, :34.00 might be acceptable. For an A swimmer, :30.00 might be acceptable. For a nation level swimmer, :28.00 and for an Olympic level swimmer, :24 - :26 would be appropriate. Record breaking is always good!

50m Breast- Again, most swimmers should be able to hold intervals on :60. Newer swimmers maybe up to 1:15, allowing for short periods of rest. Top times could range from about :42.00 (B) to :38.00 - :39.00 (A) to :34.00 - :36.00 (national) to :30.00 - :32.00 (Olympic).

    Hope that helps!

  3. Well the times do vary big between boys and girls. I go a 22 high in 50 free while the fastest girl on our team goes a 26 low. As for breastroke I suck at it so I go a 35 but the fastest guy on our team goes a a 31 low. A good time depends on age and years of experience, I would say a 25 is good for guys, 28 for girls. Wait my bad those are yards times. I wish I as that fast. For boys I go a 26 low in 50 meter free and  the girl goes a 31. I am sorry. The breastroke is 40 for me, (Yeah I suck) and the girl has never done it my bad.

  4. it really depends alot on age and gender. I would say a good time in the fifty(im talking yards,i dont swim short course meters) is a 25,26 but if just swimming highschool dont worry if your not quite there. In the fifty breast,im not sure because our league doesnt swim that, but i know a few people who go under a minuite 100 breast,so,i would say 32,33

  5. I am a guy and my 50m times are:

    Butterfly: 29.17

    Breaststroke: 35.82

    Backstroke: 26.85

    Freestyle: 23.36

As for girls' times, the one girl on our team does times similar to this:

    Butterfly: 28

    Breaststroke: 38

    Backstroke: 34

    Freestyle: 25

It all depends on what your strengths are.

  6. It all depends on you.

I can swim 50 meter breast in 35 seconds

    and free in maybe 29

boys are generaly faster but you never know

Email me your times and i can help you and give you tips to improve them if you need to
