What is a good balance of price with quality (brand and model ), when buying a quality violin with a quality sound? can I get away with spending $200 or so?

  1. Each Violin, no matter if it has come of a factory line, will have a different tone. You will need to go try them out and decided on the instrument that you like best. Also with violins you can experiment with changing the sound post/ sound post position, different strings (spend a bit more on strings because they can really alter how the violin sounds) also you can change the bridge, which will alter the tone as well. You can only afforded what you can, so putting slightley more expensive strings on, and playing around with the set up of the violin (by taking it to a luthier) is an affordable way of getting the best out of the violin you decided to buy. I hope this has helped :)
