I would like to get a deep freezer to store breast milk, however- I'm not so sure what qualifies. Would just an upright seperate freezer go into a deep freeze or would it be the chest freezers only? Or neither- does it have to specifically say deep freeze?

  1. Deep freezers are usually commercial quality and go to much lower temperatures than home models. Most people consider any chest or seperate type freezer a "deep"freeze. Either should work for your use.

There are vertical (upright) and horizontal freezers (chest freezers). The freezer portion of your refrigerator should suffice if you keep it cold enough because breast milk is only stored for a short period.

  3. the freezer on your frig is just a freezer, and goes through cycles to keep it frost free, so it warms up a bit so no frost builds up...... The chest style, and upright style.... Keep your items stored in them at a much colder temp.... down to 0 degrees..... making it a "DEEP FREEZE" ....... and you can also store items a bit longer in there as well before spoilage will occur!!!!
