My 5 yr old daughter loves to type and and I really don't want her messing around on our computer. We are gonna buy her a cheap typewriter on ebay to satisfly her. There are several that say they are dictionary typewriters and I really an clueless about what they are and do they still have the same functions as a regular electronic typewriter? Thanks in advance!!

  1. It just means it has some kind of spell checking that checks your typed word against a dictionary and alerts you if you've misspelled it.

I'm afraid a typewriter might not last too long under a 5-year-old's banging paws. Since your daughter's already 5, you might consider instead getting her one of the "my first computers" referred to in the article linked below. The cost would probably be about the same, but she'd actually learn some computer basics.
