A drag queen is a guy who dresses as a woman for the sole purpose of entertaining people, makeup wigs and dress style are very flamboyant, over the top even, the intention is to satirise women, overdoing every aspect.

I am a transvestite/cross-dresser I dress because I feel right this way and feel happiest when dressed, I do not intend to entertain people when dressed, though some people get a good laugh, I dress in clothing appropriate for my age and am not camp, I try to be as femme as possible.

Its simply a guy that perform in shows and dress up in women clothes...make up...etc. Its a natural feeling they have (just like a homosexual person) the need to dress up as a woman. Now a male that's not in shows that likes to dress up as a woman is not a drag queen but a cross dresser. You're a cross dresser if you're not in shows and dress up as a woman..you're a draq queen if you're a performer in shows that dress up like a woman!

Its not just a man that dresses up as a women. Its much more then that. A drag queen preforms to songs, often dances. She preforms. Its all about the illusion of the women as well. I heart drag queens :-)

There is more to a drag queen that just a man who dresses like a woman.  A drag queen is a man who is a performer and dose an impersonation of a woman during the performance.  The performance can be to the point that you cannot even tell it is a man or it can be done as comedy where you can tell it is a man and maybe see his beard or other male characteristics.

A man who simply dresses like a woman but is not a performer is a cross dresser and NOT a drag queen.
