What is a dual citizen?

It's someone who's a citizen of two countries.  Like my husband just became a naturalized citizen of the USA but he's still a natural born citizen of his own country too.

Generally achieved in several ways:

-Birth (jus soli) being born in a country that grants birth-right citizenship (extremely rare now, but the US still does).

-Through descent (jus sanguis): inheriting nationality from parents or even grandparents.

-Naturalization: after moving to a country, they may allow you to become a citizen of that country if you fulfil their requirements.

In the right circumstances, a person may have two, three, four or more citizenships immediately at birth (maybe one from each parent, one from place of birth, and possibly more from grandparents) and may later on move to another country and naturalize to obtain another citizenship.

Some countries don't allow dual citizenship (Holland will require you to give up your previous citizenship if becoming Dutch or give up your Dutch citizenship if naturalizing elsewhere) but theoretically you could amass a very large number of citizenships.

When you have the right to be citizen of two countries. Now, an american citizen can be a british citizen too ( if qualifies).

The mexican-american also, they can apply to be a mexican citizen too but, some racist groups are againt this legal rigth because they do not like mexicans. Those groups are not fair because they dont oppose the dual citizenship with the UK.
