  1. Duvet is a fancy word for comforter cover.  Usually the comforter buttons on to the duvet cover. I suppose you could use it without a comforter inside. It would be like a cover sheet.

  2. All the time comforter covers the duvet cover?

  3. Check online for specialty linens stores.  There are clips you can get to keep the comforter from shifting, though I have never had that problem.

I'm not sure why you would use a duvet without the comforter, unless you need the warmth of the comforter in the winter.  You could just use a light bedspread and a blanket.

  4. comforter.

  5. it a thing you put over ur duvet

  6. A duvet cover is used to "revamp" an old comforter or either protect a much loved comforter.  With out a comforter you have only a "cover" that will not keep you very warm.

  7. yes,

  8. A duvet cover is a cloth covering, much like a pillow case for your comforter.  You can use them to cover a comforter to change the look in a room or to protect a comforter, like a feather comforter.  You don't HAVE to have a comforter to go inside the duvet cover if you don't want to.  I use mine to cover a comforter, like my feather one, so it doesn't need to be cleaned so often, I just wash the duvet cover, or to change the look of my room.  I have used them in the summer, without anything in them.  Its not that hard to get the comforter or feather comforter to stay inside, but it does take some extra work to get them in the duvet cover.  Basically, what I do is pinch the corners of the feather comforter or plain comforter into the corners of the duvet cover and make sure its all the way into the corners, then I retreat to the outside, and grab those same corners, but now from the outside and sort of shake the thing into the cover then close it up and put it on the bed.  Every once in a great while, it will get loose inside, but not usually.  Its easy enough to open and pinch the corners back into the duvet cover and shake it back in.  I use mine pretty much all year, but I am in Tennessee.  But you can use them in summer, just leave the comforter out if you don't want to extra weight or warmth.  Hope this helps you!  Good luck!

  9. It's a button on thing that goes over your duvet.  No, if you just want the cover cuz you like the looks of it, no need to invest in a comforter. If you're in a warmer climate, you could get one of those lightweight down comforters that don't add weight but feel really cozy to put in it for the cooler months.

  10. A duvet cover is to cover a comforter (usually down) but it's a cheap way of changing the look of your bedroom without spending too much cash for a new comforter.

  11. A duvet cover is like a pillow case for a comforter. To change the look of your comforter and/or protect it.

You don't need one if you like the comforter you have.

You could use it as a blanket and/ or bed covering without putting a comforter in it. They kind of cling to the comforters so no slippage happens. But then why not just get a bed spread.

Most people put feather comforters in them but I didn't like all the loose feathers in it when you take the comforter out for washing.  I found it much easier to have the feather comforter out of it. Then the feathers don't come out so much, just one or two and they are easier to pick up then a whole mess of them when you use a duvet. And I do prefer to wash it anyway.

  12. A duvet cover is like a big pillowcase for a comforter.  It slides over the comforter and buttons, snaps, or zips at the "foot" end.  Typically down comforters go into it, but can be used with another comforter just to change up your look.

I have a duvet cover for my down comforter that matches the way I have decorated my master bedroom.  I do not use the down comforter in the summer and just use the duvet cover like a lightweight bedspread.  It works beautifully alone.

I live in Oklahoma, so maybe close to the same climate.

I don't know how it works, but it does (shifting).  I have never had any problems with shifting, however, I do take the duvet cover off regularly and wash it.
