What is a duvet set?

I've been looking at bedding for my room and trying to find a decent price, but I can seem to figure out what a duvet set is.

A duvet cover encloses another comforter especially down comforters.  They are constructed with three closed sides and one open side for the insertion of a comforter. May have button, tie or zipper closure.

a duvet is a comforter filled with feathers, down, or synthetic fiberfill with a plain white cover. They're an insert like a giant pillow, not meant to be used alone. A duvet cover is what the comforter goes inside of, its essentially 2 sheets sewn together open on one end to stuff the comforter in.

Its much more practical and versatile than a comforter, since you can machine wash the cover. Most store bought comforters are hard to wash and fade eventually.

As far as the duvet goes, you can also get them in a few weights, light for summer, heavy for winter..etc.

Ikea and Bed, Bath, & Beyond are great places to get both the duvets and inserts.

I'm pretty sure a duvet set is a duvet cover, sheets, and pillow cases, or it's a duvet cover, pillow shams, and a bed skirt. The duvet cover, covers a fluffy thicker comforter type thing.
