You do not have to have pizza in every place in the world to be able to make that statement.  

Pizza as we know it has been perfected in 2 cities, NYC and Chicago.  Pizza in Italy and the rest of Europe is very different, and not comparable.

Anywhere else in the country you will get knockoffs of NYC of Chicago styles, or god awful Pizza Hut/Dominos/Papa John's.

I, being from NYC, prefer the thin-crust style of NYC over the deep dish Chicago style, although it is still quite tasty.
