We have river rocks that need to be shoveled into a wheelbarrow and moved about 20 feet so that we can re-grade the slope in our yard. I will have them take at least a 10-15 minute break every hour to rest and rehydrate

  1. how much don't you want to do the work yourself?

i would give him at-least $10:00 an hour.

    that is hard work.

also if it is real hot where you live i would give him a few extra bucks.

  2. i usually charge by the job and ask them what they think is fair then pay that

  3. 10 dollars an hour plus a *******.

  4. A minimum wage in your area is a fair wage per hr. I hope it helps.

  5. How much rock does this kid have to move?  This is hard work, and rock weighs a lot, not only the hauling but the dumping.  The kid could get heat stroke working in the sun between 10 AM and 2 PM ...  Do you have liability insurance with your homeowners to protect  yourself and the kid if he gets hurt?

If he was my son,  I'd probably not want him doing that hard work by himself. I'd want to know how big the job was before I talked money.

  6. it depends how much rock will they be moving  7bucks an hr maybe more depending on how hot it is out  i work for a landscape company i shoveled gravel for 6 hrs but it was out of a dump truck i made the same money as i normally do(10.00)hr that was on a 90 degree day no matter what job im doing i make the same no matter how hard it is and im a pro(only 17)

  7. sounds like hard labor. so, in that case i'd say $10 per hour.  if you see him working extra hard or fast, give him a thank-you tip.  would be nice if you offered that work to be done in the early morning or evening to try to beat the heat if he'd like.

  8. I'd pay about 10 bucks an hour at least unless it's super hot out. That's hard work!

But that depends on how much you have...... If they get it done in 3 hours, I'd probably give them $40 each.... For getting the job done quickly and hey, at least you didn't have to do it! :) Pay them too little, and they'll never help you with anything again!

  9. Decide what the job is worth and tell them what it's paying. The faster it goes the more per hour they make.
