  2. FAVA Beans are a bean native to the mideast and parts of europe. In the mid east they are called foole m damas.  Theya re a natural source of l-dopa (the drug used for parkinsons disease). You can find them canned very cheap in middle east grocery stores.

  3. Do you mean fava bean? Google it. Some people spell it 'faba bean'.

  4. food

  5. You mean a FAVA bean. It is similar in shape to a lima bean with an outer shell that is peeled away before eating.  They are often found pickled in Italian markets.

  6. I am a former chef and like the last fellow said they are native to the Middle East, I have and still do use them fresh in there pod, like foam in side and they sometime have to be peeled when larger, frozen and in cans for salads and dried in soups and I add them to my hummus as an extender and in Falafel as again a way to make it go further.

They are very healthy, a good source of iron and vitamins, high in fibre and they a complex carbohydrate so they work in your body several ways. I like to make soups in the winter, a minestrone like one but with Moroccan spices and lamb in the soup, as an addition to Tagines with chickpeas and even just mashed and made into a paste with garlic olive oil and lemon juice and served as and appetizer before a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean meal
