I have a chain link fence. My neighbor has too many dogs. 9 to be exact, at the moment. 5 new puppies this week. Pitbull /boxer mix

My 6 lb Maltese dog doesnt want to go outside anymore, and Im not spending money on building a wood fence, nor do I want one.

I need a vine that covers fast. One that is dense in coverage, and stays green all winter . Zone 6 . Rarely goes below zero F. but we do have hard freezes and ice storms.

  1. Although you see it mostly climbing brick walls, English Ivy can work well with chain link fencing if you give it a little help with twist ties to get it started training upward.

I'd place a plant every 6 inches or so and it should grow rapidly.

You may also want to check with your township or local governing authority to find out how many dogs you can have at one property.  Your neighbor may need a kennel license.    Complaints can be filed anonymously.

  2. Queen:  Winter Jasmine may be a good choice for you and it is hardy in Zone 6.

  3. Pixie Ivy is a good choice too. Climbing fig as well. Honeysuckle.

  4. Your local garden centre should be able to give you good advice on a fast growing vine-or creeper.(plants vary-depending on where your city is----  .so its better-to get local advice.

~~(when the vine grows - you can get ties to secure-it to the frame)

    Cheers
