  1. a fastball is a pitch thrown with a natural motion and using the fullest velocity that a particular pitcher can easily and naturally achieve...it is thrown with various grips...fingers positioned on the ball...depending on the grip, the seams on the ball will have certain frictions against the air as the ball revolves in flight...good fastballs are not straight, but rise or dip or flair according to the ball's conflict with passing air...a completely straight...or flat...fastball is very hittable and a pitcher throwing such will quickly be bombed out of the game, no matter how fast he can throw...

  2. when you throw the ball fast

  3. A straight and fast pitch

  4. That is the pitch the pitcher throws when he wants to blow by the batter.  All the other pitches' purpose is to confuse or fool the batter.

FYI - a change up is similiar to a fast ball but is much slower.  This is used if the pitcher thinks that the batter has timed his fastball and wants him to swing before the ball reaches the plate.  Fastball - Change = still the best combo in baseball.

  5. something wakefield doesn't throw. lol. come on now. don't be ignorant.

  6. It a pitch that goes fast depending on the pitching Marlins Lindstorm throw between 90-102 MPH Now Wakeflield for the red soxs throws between 65-72 MPH It depends on the pitcher a fastball goes striaght though some have movement called a cut fastball but normal it will go striaght and very fastball.

  7. a fastball is a straight pitch. it ranges between 80-100.

  8. a fastball is when just through a ball straight

  9. The fastball is the most common pitch in baseball. Some power pitchers, like Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens and Dwight Gooden have thrown it over 100 mph, and relied on pure speed to prevent the ball from being hit. Others throw the pitch a bit more slowly, but put movement on the ball or throw it on the inside or outside corners of the plate.

Fastballs are usually thrown with backspin, which creates an upward force on the ball, causing it to fall less rapidly than the hitter might expect. Some pitchers and hitters have called this pitch a "rising fastball" because it appears to rise during the last ten feet of its path to the plate. Physicists, however, deny that such a "rising" action is possible

  10. straight, flat out, fast, pitch

  11. It's something Jamie Moyer doesn't have.

  12. the pitchers fastest pitch

tons of variations to it. theres a 4 seam fastball, 2 seam fastball, split seam fastball, no seam fastball
