  1. There can only be one King on the throne at a time, his eldest son and heir to the crown will be known as "Crown Prince" or "Prince of Wales." When the King dies, his heir will then be crowned as the new monarch, and titled as "His Majesty, The King." If you are taking about this in a religious sense, then the father of kings is "God" as most European monarchs believe that they are divine children of "God." They believe that “God” gave them “power” and “divine rights”. In other words, they believed that they were the representatives of “God” and was governing the land of the lord for him.

  2. Depends. In the UK the father of the last three kings (George V, Edward VIII and George VI) was a King himself, the father of Edward VII was Prince Albert (husband of Queen Victoria) and of course the father of the next king is Prince Philip, Duke of Ediburgh (providing Charles outlives the Queen).

  3. He would be a King too, normally. Only when the King dies however, does the son become King.

  4. A Dead King

  5. Depends on the situation:

If the King's mother was a queen regnant (a queen in her own right), his father might be a Prince Consort or a King Consort (a king only because he was married to a queen). The title of king consort was used in monarchies such as Spain, Portugal, England (Philip of Spain), etc.

The King's father could have been a king if he directly succeed his father.

The King's father could have also been a prince or some other titled royal. Kings don't always inherit directly from their father. For instance, Louis XIV was succeeded by his great-grandson, Louis XV. Louis XV was the eldest son of the eldest son of Louis XIV, but his father and grandfather died before his great-grandfather did. Louis XV was in turn succeeded by his grandson, Louis XVI, as Louis XVI's father died before Louis XV.

Men have also become kings after a cousin, uncle, nephew, etc. Because people don't always die before their parents and because not all kingdoms have or had the same succession rules, it cannot be said that all kings had kings as fathers.

  6. Another King. KIngs are generaly sons of kings.
