What is a felony? And who becomes a felon?

  2. A crime that's punishable by more than one year in jail...

  3. Certain crimes fall under different categories.  Naturally the worse ones are felonies the lesser fall under misdemeanors.  If you are convicted of a felony then you are a felon.

A felony is a crime of more seriousness that a traffic violation or minor theft of property.  You become a felon when the cops can make up enough evidence to make it look like you've done something wrong.  They have all the resources in the world, and unless you have a truck load of money, you can't defend yourself against corrupt cops.  

  5. A felony is a serious crime punishable with 1 year minimum prison.  A person is a felon if they are a convicted of a felony.
