Our Jersey is about seven years old. I think he's beginning to slow down a bit.

How much longer can I reasonably expect him to be with us??

  1. Ferrets generally live an average of 6-8 years. The oldest ferret on record lived 14 3/4 years.

  2. Average is about 8 years.

  3. Technically, ferrets can live 10-12 years or more.  In the United States, they are so prone with cancers and endocrine diseases that they rarely live more than 6-8 years.

If he's in good health, you might just get lucky, but I would start keeping a close eye out for signs of insulinoma or adrenal disease.

  4. Most ferrets live between 6-10 years. Just be extra alert and look for early warning signs of diseases and cancers.
