What is a fire trail?

I'm a fairly expierenced mountain biker and I am big on reading reviews and riding new trials, but one thing I keep seeing is people talking about a "fire trail" when they are reviewing a mountain bike trail. what do they mean?

  1. a fire trail, or fire road, is a road built for the passage of forest fire fighting vehicles. they are obviously wider, and typically smoother than single-track.


  2. A trail used by firefighters to get to brush fires and such. Usually only found in rural country areas.
