That totally depends on the community. Obviously, the more "high rent" the neighborhood is, the better it pays. In Chicago, it pays around $60,000. You should be able to get that information from your community. It's not a big secret like some professions. Also, many communities now require a degree in Fire Science or something similar, so make sure you make sure you're qualified to even apply.

It definitely depends on what state or country you are. One of my best friends is a fire fighter and he makes around $35,000. I live in the south-east.
