It's a good little airline.  I flew Icelandair several years ago (2000?).  At that time, they advertised the youngest transatlantic fleet if I recall correctly.  Since then, I think they've added two 753s (757-300s).  The onboard comfort was acceptable for a 5.5 hour flight, followed by a 3.5 hour flight (BWI-CPH).  I have read press releases that Icelandair are currently updating all of their seating.  Oh, here it is: http://www.icelandair.com/home/support-n...

  2. The best thing about flying Icelandair is the stopover in Reykjavik. There are many a delight this time of year waiting there. If however, time and money do not permit this, Icelandair is a very clinical and safe airline. The in flight TV is nothing to write home about, but the general condition of the aircraft feels quite new though it isn't. They haven't bought a 'new' aircraft in quite some time. Alcohol is very expensive in Iceland and I find that they are very quick to cut you off, or deny you altogether, a 2nd or 3rd beer. They can be a little intimidating when asking of extras. The female cabin staff tend to be blond and of the super model variety with tall Scandie blokes with beady little John Lennon glasses also. I find the atmosphere very relaxing and there isn't the usual pushing and shoving and screaming as the Icelanders are a discreet people (when sober). On Icelandair you have more chance of meeting an interesting person because of the wonderful eccentricity of the Icelanders and of the people who travel there. Enjoy, you'll love it.
