  1. depends on the fly, the common one you see every day live from one week to three weeks. Some more exotic flys can live for months.

    There is no such thing as an average fly.  There is a lot of variability in fly life span.  I pick one people are familiar with, the house fly.  An adult lives maybe 2 months.  It takes about 10 days for the eggs to hatch and become adults.  So the whole life cycle is 2 to 3 months.
