I'm trying to properly introduce a source for my English 102 paper and it says that the author is a freelance writer. What is that? Do you know how I should introduce her?

  1. A writer is anyone who puts pen to paper, whether for enjoyment, artistic talent, creative outlet, volunteer work or pay. Paid writers, employed full time by one employer, might work for a newspaper, magazine, advertising business, or any other business which needs a full time writer on staff. A freelance writer is simply a writer who acts as a small business or independent contractor; he sets his own pace, seeks out his own work, and pays no one but himself.

A freelance writer might work full time as a writer or have a completely different daytime career. A freelance writer might simply write for fun, jotting down poems, posting online blogs, or trying his hand at short fiction. A freelance writer might be a stay-at-home parent, college student or shut-in. Whatever his choice, the freedom one finds in being a freelance writer is part of the appeal.

  2. Someone who doesn't have a specific employer or contract but basically writes just about on anything and for anyone for a fee . If you are to introduce someone as Freelance writer is exactly what  you do .

  3. A freelance writer is somone who dosen't work for a certain company or magazine .  They kind of work for themselves and they may be asked to write an article or serries of articles for a certain magazine.  Then they may move on to another project where they write something for someone else.  They also may specialize in a certain subject.

  4. A freelance writer is a writer who is not currently employed to anyone specific but instead makes a living out of writing materials for a fee.
