What is a gaited horse?

If your going to tell me it has more than four gates what is a gate? Is it like a door or something else? Please be patient I am new to horseback and don't know alot.

on a fence, or a coral, is the gait, which keeps the horse inside when closed, or it can be opened to run around for a while

a horse that is trained to respond only to a certain gait (or speed).  it is most common is cart horses and some horses used to give riding lessons.  riding lesson hosses are generaly dead broke and gaited to a SLOW gallop or fast canter.  this is to prevent over exited students from taking off and getting too fast and getting bucked off or away from the teacher.

This video says this horse has 5 gaits so I suppose just watch closely. I never got what "gaits" meant either. But I don't really care, I don't want a gaited horse. =] hehe.
