I'm looking into getting breast surgery that is covered by my medical services plan of this province (british columbia) and the surgeon said I have to be referred by a general practitioner to start the process. Is that like a doctor that you see in a walk in clinic? I don't have a family doctor or anything like that, I've never been in a hospital for myself so this is kind of unknown territory.
